28 Days Later #14 Out Today (9/8/10)

Although I had these events percolating inside my head since I began the series, it was still a difficult issue to write. Writing the death of main characters is never easy, even for a writer as notoriously cruel to his protagonists as I am.

For those who read the full issue and are curious, "Farewell all joys" comes from Orlando Gibbons' "The Silver Swan." I feel the poem sums up nicely the tragedy within the issue.

Below is a preview of the first five pages. Enjoy.

Yeah, that seems to be a problem every now and again. But remember, you can always get it online at the BOOM! site. I know it's a bit of a pain, but when all else fails...

Clint should have stayed on the train, cause he's the douche leading them all to their deaths!
I really liked Derrick, thought that it brought a fresh take on the zombie genre (him being blind and all). With him gone it feels like something's missing...maybe its me?

Writing Derrick's death was tough, and yes, it does feel like something's missing. But that's also what I was kind of going for. I wanted to slowly whittle Selena's crew down to the bare minimum and to show that absolutely no one is safe.
